Ceresit ZU Adhesive and Base Coat Render 25kg

Description

Ceresit ZU is a cement and lime based mortar that does two jobs from one bag: bonding EPS boards to the substrate, and forming the mesh-reinforced basecoat over them. Part of the Ceresit Ceretherm Popular system. One product on site instead of two means simpler ordering and fewer part-used bags left over.

Coverage

  • Fixing boards: approximately 5.0kg/m²
  • Reinforced layer: approximately 4.0kg/m²
  • So roughly 9kg/m² for both stages — about 2.8m² per bag

Mixing and application

  • 4.5 to 5.0 litres of clean water per 25kg bag, mixed with a low speed drill
  • Pot life up to 90 minutes
  • Apply at 5°C to 25°C
  • Bond boards using the perimeter and dab method, covering at least 40% of the board
  • Boards must also be mechanically fixed once the adhesive has set
  • Rasp the boards flat before basecoating, then apply 3-4mm and bed the alkali-resistant mesh into the wet mortar
  • Prime the cured basecoat with CT16 before the top coat
  • Highly absorbent substrates such as aerated concrete should be primed with CT17 and left at least 2 hours

Specification

  • Base: cement and lime with mineral fillers and modifiers
  • Bulk density: approximately 1.3 kg/dm³
  • Suitable for machine application
  • Shelf life 12 months, stored dry on pallets in original packaging
  • Contains cement — wear goggles, mask, gloves and coveralls

Fixing EPS-boards: CERESIT ZU shows good adhesion to carrying, compact and dry substrates. The adhesion to the existing plasters and paint coatings should be checked before starting the application. Reinforced layer application: when CERESIT ZU is set (after approx. 24 hours), the boards should be ground with abrasive paper and additionally fixed with mechanical anchors.

CERESIT ZU should be poured into cool clean water and stirred until the homogenous mass is obtained. Fixing EPS-boards: the mortar should be applied along the board edges and the board should be pressed to the wall. Reinforced layer application: the mortar should be spread along the surface of the EPS boards. The glass fibre mesh should be applied on the fresh mortar, and than smoothed the surface so that it is not be visible.

When applying the reinforced layer, do not work walls in direct sunlight and protect the completed layer from rain. The works should be carried out in dry conditions, at the temperature air and substrate temperature ranging from +5°C to +25°C. Skin and eyes should be protected. If the material comes into contact with your eyes, rinse them thoroughly with water and seek medical attention.
